What are the Significant Features of Arctic Hydronic Air Handler?

The hydronic air handler has been used over the years as a way to transfer energy from the hydronic boilers and A/C units around the house through the centralized ductwork. Most air handlers were designed in the past for higher temperature water sources that range from 140-180 F. That means the heat exchangers could have relatively undersize but still do the job.

Currently, a modern highly efficient energy source is gaining popularity in the industry as the old air handlers simply are unable to do the job. Arctic Air Handler is the new breed in terms of efficiency and technology.

The Hydronic Air Handler has unique features like Variable Frequency Drive VFD and 6-row heat exchangers. The system is able to provide lower-temperature heating sources like hydronic heat pumps, geothermal systems, and condensing boilers – all of them work most efficiently even at a lower temperature.

Different Features of Arctic Hydronic Air Handler

6Row Heat Exchanger –

The hydronic air handler features 6row copper and aluminum heat exchangers with one-inch in or outlines. This heat exchanger is around 400% larger than its counterparts. This is why the system is able to maximize the amount of heat transfer by using lower water temperature. However, that doesn’t mean it won’t work with traditional high-temperature boilers.

The Arctic Air Handler can provide output up to 150,000 BTU at 190 F. The heat exchanger has a specifically designed internal loop that ensures low-pressure loss of 3.1 Feet Head @ 10 GPM.

3Phase Direct Drive Motors –

These motors are specifically designed systems that use variable speeds. That means, the motor doesn’t require any start-up capacitor, which makes the system quieter and highly energy efficient. The motor utilizes what it requires at all times and is powerful enough to provide up to 1750 cubic of air feet per minute. The single-phase power is converted to a three-phase the motor by the VFD Controller.

WAG Variable Speed Drive Controller

The Variable Speed Drive Controller converts the single-phase 120 VAC to a highly efficient three-phase ensuring the operation of the fan motor and modulation of power output matching the load requirements.

The controller has easy-to-touch settings that allow you to program individual fan speeds like cooling mode, heating mode and fan-only mode. The variable speed drive controller monitors and adjusts the static pressure of the heating or cooling system as per any changes like closed vents or dirty filters.
